Dec. 19 2011: Skype Connects U.S. Travelers with Free Skype WiFi this Holiday Season

Just a few holiday seasons back, Google teamed up with numerous airports across the US to offer travelers free Wifi during the holidays. This year Skype is giving the gift of free Wifi. From December 21st to December 27th Skype will be offering free access to third party Wifi hotspots through its Skype WiFi program in over 50 airports all across the U.S. Before you get upset with the folks at Skype because your airport isn't on the list, check to make sure that it's not already offering a free Wi-Fi signal.
You can only get an hour for free, but that's certainly enough to check your email and have a quick video chat with your folks before take-off. To benefit from Skype's offer you need to be using a Skype for Windows or Mac, or the Skype Wifi App for iOS.
Did you notice what's missing? While this is a great offer for many users, it appears as though Android users will be left out in the cold. Although Skype exists for Android, it is said that the app currently found in the Android Market does not support Skype Wi-Fi. That means a plethora of phones and tablets will not be able to nab free Wi-Fi at airports this year. Unfortunately for Android users all you will be getting from Skype is a lump of coal.
